Tuross Head Women
Denise Lidbury is off to Soldiers Point this weekend, November 3 and 4 to play in the NSW State Annual Bowls fixture of Country versus City. There are 20 bowlers chosen for each side. Four members play in the under 25s and eight in both the Open and Seniors.
Denise has been a member of Tuross Head Country Club Women’s Bowling Club since 1990. In that time she has won many club titles as well as District. She has participated regularly in Regional and State events.
In 2018 she was a member of the Tuross Head Pennant 1 side who played at the Entrance in August in the State playoffs.
She also played in the pairs, triples and fours competitions at the State level at Taren Point in September. The selectors certainly had an eye for excellence in choosing Denise to be part of the Country Seniors side. She, along with Emma Petit from Merimbula, are the only two representatives from southern NSW.
Tuross Head Country Club is extremely proud of Denise’s efforts and wish her well in this highly contested event. We hope Country will be able to defend the title they won in 2017.

Malua Bay Sunday Sippers
On a glorious Sunday morning 27 Sippers enjoyed their game of bowls. Winners were Vic Patrikka and Charlie Bird. The DH award went to Sonya Bird. Anna Stewart gave out lots of fines but remember all money collected is for charity.
With summer just around the corner Sunday Sippers would like to invite visitors to have a game of bowls. Everyone welcome, no previous experience necessary. Names in by 8.30am Sunday. Visitors can also put their name on the list with the smiley face at Club Malua. Please leave a contact number.
Tomakin Twist Tops
There were 40 bowlers on the green last Sunday on a lovely warm sunny day.
President Steven welcomed everyone, making a special mention to new Twisties Sonia Frey and Cathy Egan. He also gave out the weekly medal and " Wally" award to John Signor who had his name down to bowl last week but didn’t turn up. His excuse was that his grandson Connor was visiting.
The winners card was for a Draw but as there was no drawn matches it went to the Biggest Losing Margin which was won by Donna Bacon, John Signor and Karen James. Runners-up were Nel van Etten and Brian Wheeler.
Karen drew rink 8 to try for Jackpot but as there was only $30 in the kitty after last week’s big win Boothy decided to donate it back as not enough funds to share between six people. Breakfast trays were won by Michael Voce and Nel van Etten.
Everyone welcome to Twist Tops. Come along and bowl to some great music.
Malua Bay
Last Tuesday was a lovely warm day for the 56 ladies taking part in "pink" day to raise funds for women suffering with breast cancer.
Thanks to our hard working social committee everything on the trading table was "in the pink", with cup cakes, slices, coconut ice and clothes all on sale.
As we ventured onto the green each bowler donated a gold coin. A Spider started off the day where each bowler plays one bowl to a central point. This year the box of chocolates was won by Tricia Wheeler.
Winners were selected on a drawn card. Winning lead was Tricia Wheeler, second Pat Weekes, third Kim Giannasca, Skip Jean Beeley. Runners-up were Lead Judy Armstrong, second Jeanette Whalley, third Helen Rees, Skip Margaret Bridges.
Congratulations to selectors on their choice of teams as several teams only had one point difference and others no more than six.
Money club winners were Karen Signor and Dorothy Stewart. There were 10 raffle prizes so thank you to ladies who donated all the wonderful prizes. Also to Club Malua for the bottles of wine.
The total funds raised for the day was $392, plus green fees to be added, donated by Club Malua. A great effort by everyone.
Round 1 of Minor Singles was played on Thursday when Kim Giannasca defeated Cathy Egan, Sally Malone defeated Sharon Cutmore and Sonia Frey defeated Sue Palmer.
FRIENDLY FRIDAY
There were 25 bowlers on the green enjoying their morning of bowls. Winners were Kevin Ellison and Alison Innes, runners-up Sonia Frey, John Signor and Pat Bill. Money club winner was Sue Beavan and there was no jackpot.
Tomakin Men
Individual Entry Triples: Thursday, November 1.
The result was to be decided on ends won plus 3 points, as we fielded one rink of pairs, but the winners and runners up tied on ends won so the highest margin took out the win anyway.
The winners with a margin of plus 18 were Mervyn Kennett, Phil Versteeg, and Steve Gigg.
The runners up were Vince Fisher and Dick Pooley with a margin of plus 11.
The jackpot draw went to Dick Pooley, the winning skip on rink 12. The jackpot was not won and the pot still stands at $510 for next week.
Individual Entry Triples: Monday, November 5.
Today’s winners were Richard Dukiewich, Ken Croft, and Steve Hall with a margin of plus 17.
The runners up were Fred Burggraaf, John Desmet, and Jamie Cormie with a plus 14.
Chris O’Brien, the winning skip from rink 8 split the deck for the jackpot but failed to find the joker. The pot for next Monday stands at $500.
Triples games will be arranged when we have more than 28 bowlers while green two is out of action during renovation.
Coming Events in Tomakin:
The final of the mixed pairs, the final of the handicap pairs, as well as the district junior singles will be played on Sunday, November 11.
We wish all the bowlers competing this weekend the very best of luck as they are expected to roll some very competitive bowls.
Bowlers are advised that the cards will be called at 12.15pm for a 12.30pm start.
Mens club members are reminded that the annual presentation day will take place on Saturday, December 4. Keep this date free for a game of bowls, luncheon, and refreshments.
