The Group 16 season will kick off with the annual Indigenous All Stars vs Group 16 All Stars game, a match designed to promote Indigenous players and the role they play in our game.
The day will kick off at 11am with an under 18s nine-a-side tournament featuring seven teams in a round robin format.
The teams will be promoting the expansion of game by encouraging new players to have a go, especially Indigenous players, with a cash bonus going to the club which introduces the most new players on the day.
These games will be followed by the main games for the day.
Firstly the Ladies Indigenous All Stars v Group 16 Ladies All Stars in a tackle match at 2.30pm. Last year’s game was a cracker, so make sure you catch this one.
Narooma coaches Kate and Damien Rotumah will be coaching this rep team on the day, and reckon the Narooma girls who are in the team are just itching to play a tackle game.
The final of the under 18s tournament will follow and lead to the men’s Indigenous All Stars v Group 16 All Stars match.
The Indigenous boys will be coached by Batemans Bay’s Mason Harrison and he has them raring to go. These games are taken very seriously and it should be a great spectacle of attacking football.
Another feature of the day will be presence of the Katungal South Coast Medical Service to carry out Indigenous medical checks similar to the "One Deadly Step Program”.
