Kim Churchill, Ash Grunwald, OKA and Tash Sultana are among the musicians ready to rock Moruya for the annual Granite Town festival next month.
Congo-raised Virginia Quirk masterminded the inaugural Granite Town line-up two year’s ago and has returned after a year’s break for Granite Town mark three.
The line-up for what Ms Quirk says is “Moruya’s funky little festival” – on October 28, 29 and 30 – also includes:
Ngaiire ■ Citizen K ■ Tijuana Cartel ■ Alice Terry ■ Caravãna Sun ■ Hot Potato Band ■ Lady Oscar ■ Afro Moses ■ 30/70 ■ Brass Knuckle Band ■ Lyre Byrdland ■The Rhythm Hunters ■ Nitida ■ The Escalators ■ The New Venusians ■ The Somedays ■ Sacred Cow ■ Benji and the Saltwater Sound System ■ The Blue Ruins ■ Fox Holmes
Organisers promise “dance-your-heart-out music, art, culture and delicious food on the banks of the pristine Moruya River”.
The line-up is billed a “strong jazz-rooted, funk and reggae sound”. “Dance, move, jump, fling, think, feel, chill-out and bask in the best and the quirkiest contemporary music around.”
The show opens 4pm on Friday, October 28.
The Riverlights flotilla will be launched again, after five months of work from community groups and schools.
Giant, illuminated floating sculptures will be towed by kayakers and paddle boarders on the Moruya River at dusk.
“These remarkable luminous artworks are a reflection of a truly collaborative community both in spirit and in action,” Riverlights spokeswoman Danielle Williams said.
The festival includes food on sale in Eat Street – a pop-up dining precinct with local and visiting cooks.
If it all gets too much, this year’s festival will include a “mini-township of massage, relaxation and wellness”.
Full-weekend camping on the riverbank will be available this year.
Discount early bird tickets are on sale now until September 19 at www.granitetownfest.com.au or at The Rustic Pantry, Vulcan St, Moruya.
Book early for a discount full weekend for $100 or $90 concession.
