A bushfire appeal will be held at Hunter Valley Gardens on Saturday and Sunday as the annual Christmas Lights Spectacular wraps up for another year. All profits from the final two evenings of this year's spectacular will be donated to the Salvation Army, NSW Rural Fire Service, St Vincent de Paul Society and WIRES. Emergency services volunteers and workers will receive free entry and unlimited ride passes this weekend (on presentation of their identification card). "If you've been thinking about visiting, this is the weekend to do it," Hunter Valley Gardens executive chairman Dominic Roche said. "We have chosen to support four charities to ensure as many fire-affected areas and communities gain as much assistance as possible. "Everyone is invited to enjoy a great family night out, while supporting the amazing men and women who have been bravely defending our communities during this unprecedented event." Donation buckets will also be available at the venue. Gates will open at 5.30pm and will close at 10pm.
