Fresh from his rookie season Piastri is keen to show his skills on the track after registering eighth at last year's race.

"It was a pretty crazy race last year but to score my first-ever F1 points in front of a home crowd will stay with me for a long time," Piastri said.

"It is such a special event for me. Not only is it my home country but to have grown up so close to the track and coming back to my hometown is awesome."

Piastri most recently came fourth in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

The Melbourne race is third in the 2024 Formula one lineup, with the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grand Prix opening the Formula One season.

Although this is set to change in 2025 with the Australian Grand Prix returning to its traditional season opening position.

Piastri won't be the only Australian on the track with fan favourite Daniel Ricciardo also racing for the Visa Cash App Racing Bulls.

This is Ricciardo's return to a full time seat after being dumped by McLaren.

Other divers to watch out for include Red Bull driver Max Verstappen, who is coming off a winning streak of races, and Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton who will be moving to Ferrari in the 2025 season.

Formula One won't be the only races to watch over the four day event, Formula 2 and 3 races also taking place.

V8 supercars will also be racing at Albert Park during the event.

There will also be several non car related activities at Albert Park over the weekend.

This includes a musical lineup of several Australian artists.

Amy Shark, Jet and a DJ set by Empire of the sun are headlining the event.
