Colby Heron, Nyesha Hoskins-Moore and Lilly Bennett were part of the Illawarra Steelers U18s team that triumphed 26-22 against the Canterbury Bulldogs in round two of the Tarsha Gale 9s tournament on Saturday.
The Steelers girls hit the ground running following the cancellation of their first round match due to the conditions.
Bennett was among the standouts for the squad, scoring two tries.
Next up for the U18s is a date against Parramatta at Cabramatta this Saturday.
Before then, the Open women will hit the field in Illawarra/Southern Region All Stars Community Day at Ziems Park on Friday night.
The Bay is well represented in the Illawarra Womens Barbarians vs Greater Southern Region Indigenous Women match, with Emma Walters selected for the former, while Sheree Potts and Bree Moreton were picked for the latter.
It comes as Batemans Bay U18s coach, Shane Chatfield, predicted a strong start from the Tigers in the Illawarra competition.
“The girls are turning up to training in good numbers and really working hard,” he said.
“They are so excited about having this opportunity to play for a local club in the Illawarra Women’s League
“There are some really talented girls in our squads so we expect to compete well in both opens and u18s in 2017.”
