Earlier in the week the sandbar was hampering flow, with water backing up the creek.
During visits to the site over the past week, passing residents told the Bay Post/Moruya Examiner they were unconcerned; this was a regular occurrence and heavy rain would free the creek.
Resident Brad Rossiter, whose house backs onto the Timbara inlet and has lived in Surfside for 20 years, said he had never seen it flood.
Mr Rossiter’s comments followed conjecture the sand from recent dredging deposited at Surfside had increased flood risk.
