The chocolate bar has returned in a new bite-size form on April 11 after it was discontinued by Nestle in 2009.
Polly Waffle Bites are "deliciously soft marshmallow bites covered in wafer and milk chocolate" according to Menz Confectionery, which bought the brand from Nestle in 2019.
The company, which is also the maker of FruChocs and Violet Crumble, had planned to bring back the Polly Waffle as the much-loved bar but faced roadblocks in its production.
Menz CEO Phil Sims said the company "essentially had to start from scratch" to try to produce the bar at its South Australian factory for 10 years.
"What we couldn't anticipate was the number of variables out of our control, from COVID border closures restricting access to equipment, or updated retailer expectations," he said.
"As we discovered, to recreate the original bar would require even more time and cost, without the guarantee that it would have the same quality that consumers remember.
"So unfortunately as much as we have tried, we are unable to do so."
The Polly Waffle Bites will be available in all major and most independent supermarkets, variety and discount stores, petrol and convenience stores nationwide from April 11.
They will also be sold at FruChoc retail shops in South Australia and on Menz' online store.
