The Transport Management Centre sent a notification at 1.16pm advising motorists the Kings Highway was closed in both directions between Bungendore and Manar, and advised (at the time) motorists to use Tarago Road and Braidwood Road/Goulburn Road.
Then, at 1.34pm, the Transport Management Centre advised one lane of the highway had reopened under alternating stop/slow traffic control.
The aforementioned diversion had been lifted, but motorists were still advised to allow for extra travel time and exercise caution in the affected area.
Heavy rains have caused havoc across the state, with many major roads closed due to flooding.
In the north, the Kamilario Highway is closed between Gunnedah and Boggabri.
In the central west, the Lachlan Valley Way is closed between Forbes and Gooloogong and Henry Lawson Way and New Grenfell Road are both closed between Forbes and Gooloogong.
In the northwest, the Cobb Highway is closed between Ivanhoe and Wilcannia.
Local roads are also closed in the impacted areas - more information is available on their respective council websites.
