On Tuesday, November 23, the Batemans Bay Fire and Rescue crew attended three calls before 11am.
Their first job was to investigate a reported spillage.
"During our morning checks of our hydraulic rescue gear, a passerby informed us that there appeared to be some sort of spillage on Beach Road near the Catalina Club," a Batemans Bay Fire and Rescue spokesperson said.
"Our crew attended the scene and investigated the area confirming that there was no spill of any hazardous materials on the roadway."
Shortly after returning to the station, the crew was called to rescue an "angry lorikeet" at Catalina.
"Our crew was greeted with one very unlucky and angry lorikeet who had flown into a tv antenna and got his head caught," the spokesperson said.
"Firefighters cut away some of the antenna shroud allowing our noisy friend to release himself and relocate to a nearby tree in a much happier state."
On their way back to town, the crew received their third call to a car on fire at Corrigans Beach playground.
"Luckily our crew were just coming around the corner and were on scene in under one minute from the initial call," the spokesperson said.
The burning car was located in the carpark and firefighters thanked bystanders for their quick thinking.
"A massive thank you to the quick-thinking passers by who managed to extinguish the fire with a dry chemical extinguisher preventing any fire spread," the spokesperson said.
"Our crew checked the engine bay and applied some water to the remaining hot spots confirming that the vehicle was in fact extinguished."
