A police spokeswoman said officers from the South Coast Police District were called to a unit on Mort Avenue at about 11.40am on Monday, August 23, for a routine welfare check.
"Upon arrival, a 66-year-old man barricaded himself inside the home," she said.
"Following negotiations, the man was arrested without further incident at about 3.45pm."
"He was taken to Southeast Regional Hospital in Bega for assessment, and inquiries are continuing."
Police had set up roadblocks on Mort Avenue for parts of yesterday afternoon, with detours in place.
The 66-year-old man has not been charged with any crimes at this stage.
