"After a two-week break, the three young actors, Milly Shanahan, Scarlett Lane and Michaela Burtenshaw will step back into their characters and work towards their opening night in September 2021," spokesperson Jen Aspinall said.
"Children of The Black Skirt, a play by Angela Bietzien, was originally written as a touring production for upper-primary and high-schools to address the school curriculum, but has established itself as a highly engaging and enchanting theatre production in its own right.
"Milly, Scarlett and Michaela, three very talented young women actors, will amaze audiences with their character development, adaptability and physical skills, as they each take on multiple roles in difficult and confronting scenes in this haunting play.
"Apart from their own main characters, the cast of three will take on the roles of another 18 characters in the story, a remarkable and exciting achievement.
"They will deliver engaging stories about the history of Australia, the treatment of indigenous people since invasion, the culture of silence and cover up in institutions and much more," Ms Aspinall said.
Lyn Sterling director of the Bay Theatre Players production of Children of The Black Skirt said, "This style of play will be something different in our 2021 season, and we encourage everyone in our local community to support us by coming along to see the show.
"This enables us to continue to provide a diverse range of plays that will appeal to a wider audience."
The Bay Theatre Players look forward to bringing this play to audiences in September 2021.
Play Exploration coming up
Pending COVID-19 restrictions, The Bay Theatre Players next play exploration is "Compass" a play by Jessica Bellamy, suitable for ages 12 and up.
"Compass is a comedy with a sting in its tail, which asks how far we will go to hold onto what we think we deserve.
"If we are barely managing to take care of ourselves, how do we treat an outsider? Is our moral compass set in stone, or can we get lost?"
Come along at 7pm, Wednesday, July 14 at The Playhouse, 33 Gregory St Batemans Bay. If you would like any further information, contact Tay on 0416 181 003 or email baytheatreplayers@gmail.com
