The removal is part of preliminary works of a Eurobodalla Shire Council project to upgrade the the road at Grandfathers Gully between Surf Beach and Lilli Pilli to improve road safety in the area.
Motorists have been asked to slow down in the area and follow traffic control directions.
Residents might also notice smoke in the area as council burns the stumps from the removed trees.
Burning will be conducted in accordance with an RFS permit and may continue into the night.
As part of the project, council confirmed revegetation works were planned to offset the necessary tree clearing once the new road was established.
