New Year's Eve festivities in Batemans Bay will be live-streamed on social media, as COVID-19 restrictions tighten across Greater Sydney.
An event to remember last year's bushfires and celebrate the future, "Light up the Bay", will go ahead as planned, event organisers announced on Wednesday morning, December 30.
However, attendees from Sydney's Northern Beaches or areas where a positive case has been identified will not be admitted.
Attendees must bring ID and will not be admitted unless they do so, a spokesperson said.
The event, taking place on the Batemans Bay foreshore at 6pm until midnight, will feature a light display and live music.
Organisers will live-stream the commemorative ceremony on Facebook from 8pm, with speakers including NSW Resilience Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons.
Organisers urged people to bring a mask and wear it indoors in public venues, download the Service NSW app before arrival, sign in using QR codes, keep 1.5 metres' distance from other groups and use hand sanitiser.
NSW recorded 18 locally acquired cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night.
New Year's Eve marks one year since hundreds of Eurobodalla Shire homes were burnt in last summer's fire storm.
Batemans Bay Business and Tourism Chamber president Mathew Hatcher said the event was an opportunity to thank RFS and those who had helped the community get back on its feet.
"Despite concerns around COVID-19 outbreaks in parts of Sydney and the changeable weather, we know that December 31 is an important date for all of us, and we need to recognise its significance together," Mr Hatcher said.
"In the current climate, not everyone who would like to attend will be able to, so we'll be live-streaming the official part from 8pm on Facebook on New Years' Eve.
"We'd love supporters of our community and family and friends to join us online from wherever they are."
The event is being hosted by the Batemans Bay Business and Tourism Chamber as part of the "Love the Bay" initiative.
