House fire
Firefighters were called to a kitchen fire at Lagoon Street, Moruya, on Monday, November 23.
Police said the occupants were cooking on a stove when it was left unattended and the kitchen became engulfed with flames from oil burning over.
The house filled with smoke and the occupants took the children outside of the house and contacted emergency services.
Police said firefighters broke through the laundry wall to extinguish fire that spread behind the stove.
There was extensive damage to the kitchen.
Paramedics arrived and checked the occupants were safe and well.
Moruya Fire and Rescue recommended all households have a fire blanket and extinguisher available "as hot oil fires should never be extinguished with water".
