After 30-years of full-time gigging North-West Tasmanian glam rocker Brett Collidge jokes he has finally taken his parents' advice to "get a real job".
Collidge is studying to become an accountant.
As a result of Covid-19, he said a lot of musos were getting other jobs and finding new ways to play during lockdown.
Inspired by the star-studded cover version of the Foo Fighters' Times Like These video a group of talented Coasters took on an AC/DC classic.
It's a Long Way to the Top features a string of well-known musicians from the region. The month-long collaboration has produced a video posted on YouTube.
Mr Collidge plays with the band Nothin' But A Glam Time.
He said after a few musos started chatting about the Foo Fighters video on Facebook it led to him getting asked if they could do the same thing.
"I messaged 50 working musicians in Devonport and Burnie I know asking if they wanted to submit a video," he said.
They used phones to film themselves, and some set up microphones and were live-streaming their parts at RMS Productions.
Collidge edited the videos into the finished version.
"That's the fun bit, which can be a tricky thing when all these different formats have come in," he said.
Collidge, who plays rhythm guitar, picked his favourite bits of each singer and filled the gaps.
The venture happened because Covid had put so many entertainers out of work.
"It was something to do at that time," Mr Collidge said.
"RMS Productions has been Livestreaming on North-West Tassie Gig Streams on Friday and Saturday nights, which has really taken off."
IN OTHER NEWS:
Left with no income overnight, it has been a rough time for musicians.
"It's changed the way a lot of musicians think about the job," Mr Collidge said.
"I went back to school to study accounting.
"For the first time in three decades, I was in a situation where I might not have this job anymore, and I better get something else under my belt.
"I think I'll play gigs more for fun and I'm not the only one, a lot of musos went out and got jobs."
RMS Productions is still Livestreaming on North-West Tassie Gig Streams on Friday and Saturday nights.
Mr Collidge's band Nothin' But A Glam Time is livestreaming on July 4, at 7 pm and preparing to get back to doing live gigs in venues again.
He said it was a privilege to work for so long playing music.
Performers on the video include: Matt Elwell on drums, Bob Tolputt on bass, and Ian Bucholz on bagpipes with Cam Sherriff on melodica. The guitarists are Scott Mainwaring, Trent McCarthy, Matt Weeks, Nathan Whittle, Johnny Wilson, and Marcus Wynwood with vocals from Heath Brett, Clinton Hutton, CJ Johnson, Danny Kealley, Chris Lynch, Kurt Redman, Cam Sherriff, Tash Turner, and Cam Windram.
