Bowls
MALUA BAY
Malua Bay Women's and Men's Bowls.
Last Tuesday President Robyn Butcher welcomed teams from Dalmeny, Tuross Head, and Tomakin who were at Malua Bay for the start of Pennant season. Unfortunately Malua Bay lost in Grades 1,2 and 3 White, also in Four-a-side, Grades 3 Blue and 4 had a bye.
There were 20 bowlers playing social games. Winners on Rink 9, Carmel Price, Connie Anderson and Cathy Egan. A very warm welcome to Connie Anderson who was having her first game with the Tuesday ladies, she has been bowling with Sunday Sippers.
Cathy tried for Jackpot but no luck, now $300 so very worthwhile winning. Listening to all reports from Pennant Team managers all commented on our greens, great, fantastic, magic, so thank you to Adam and his team on a terrific job . Thanks to Umpire Fran Lucas and Controlling Body Jay Breust.
During the morning a Press Release came through that we are no longer allowed to bowl socially, in Pennants or Tournaments. This is due of course to precautions being taken with the crises of COVID 19.
Malua Bay Stingrays are doing well in men's Pennants so will be disappointed not to be able to bowl. This will be my last report for a while so thanks to Bay Post for printing my report each week, I will be back!
TOMAKIN MEN
All bowlers should by now be aware of the joint advice issued by Bowls NSW and Women's Bowls NSW on March 17.
Amid growing safety concerns due to the spread of the Coronavirus all bowls events have been suspended for an indefinite period.
The suspension relates to all association events including pennants, competition events, club championships, other club events and tournaments.
In addition to the suspension of events the bowling greens at Tomakin have been closed for roll-ups and bare foot bowls until further notice.
The Tomakin Men's Bowling Club committee would like to thank bowlers and club members for their understanding and support during this difficult time.
Open Lightning Pairs Tournament:
In line with this directive the Tomakin Open Lightning Pairs Tournament to be held on Monday, April 13 (Easter Monday) has been cancelled. Our event coordinator, Tony Robinson, will contact all teams who have submitted entries for this event to arrange for the refund of their entry fees.
The Tomakin Men's Bowling Club appreciates the support of our sponsors and looks forward to conducting this event next year.
