Whilst above the water some of our beautiful places are charred and blackened - and our native animals are suffering - beauty, peace and diversity remain in Batemans Bay.

Underwater areas of the Bay are unique and bursting with animal and plant life.
Underwater robotics company, UnderseaROV, has been mapping and exploring the Eurobodalla Shire's waters with sonar and robot submarines (ROVs) since 2014.
They continue to search and film Batemans Bay because of it's amazing variety of life, colour and habitats which are so close to a population centre.
Their new short video "An Introduction to the Secret Islands" shows new footage from one of their favorite places - 'The Secret Islands' - a chain of rocky islands that disappeared beneath the waves of the bay about 12000 years ago.
These submerged islands are roughly the same size in area as the Tollgate Islands at the mouth of the bay.
Their video and photos give a taste of the amazing underwater beauty at our doorstep. This video and others are available on their Facebook and YouTube pages.
UnderseaROV has produced a presentation "Islands in the Sea" which is an underwater journey through the Clyde River, Batemans Bay and offshore. The presentation debuted at Christmas 2018 and may have screenings these holidays depending on venue availability and demand.
The team will also be sharing new footage of undersea Batemans Bay with us regularly in 2020.
