The Batemans Bay Bridge will not be opened for boats due to continuous road access required on the Princes Highway for emergency vehicles responding to bushfires.

NSW Maritime Executive Director Mark Hutchings said the bridge was needed for the movement of supplies and emergency vehicles responding to fires nearby.
He said the road was also needed so residents could access the Batemans Bay Mackay Park evacuation centre.
"The bridge remains accessible for all road traffic during this period to ensure residents are able to access the Mackay Park evacuation centre in Batemans Bay and emergency services are able to access communities in an unobstructed manner," Mr Hutchings said.
He urged boaters to stay off the water.
"There is a lot of smoke in the area and visibility on the water is very poor. We urge boaters to stay off the water unless absolutely necessary."
Transport for NSW Executive Director Southern Sam Knight said the decision to cease the opening of the bridge was made in conjunction with emergency services, maritime and stakeholders as the risk from fire reduces.
She said priority was with safety.
"While we appreciate the inconvenience to boaters, the number one priority remains safety and we are working very closely with the Rural Fire Service and NSW Police in assisting their current efforts," Ms Knight said.
"Motorists are reminded access to Batemans Bay via the Kings Highway remains closed and due to high temperatures and strong winds it will be some time before Transport for NSW crews are able to assess the damage to the Kings Highway."
Motorists should continue to exercise caution, and follow the directions of emergency services and traffic crews.
Transport for NSW reaffirmed road freight access remained open from the south to Batemans Bay, ensuring essential supplies could reach the area, despite the ongoing bushfires.
