Never mind the red tape - there's enough there to trip over!
More could have been done to expedite the loos by moving to have a plan and costings ready for approval by councillors next meeting so that grants can be sought, even prior to putting the costs into next year's budget.

Right time to talk
Wednesday, November 20 is United Nations World Children's Day, which commemorates the Declaration of the Rights of the Child.
Australia is a signatory and committed to protecting the rights to health and safety for Australian children.
Australian Parents for Climate Action Eurobodalla will run a protest action in Moruya on November 20 calling on the government to protect our children from climate breakdown. Parents have penned an open letter to Scott Morrison, calling for urgent climate action.
The federal government has recently dismissed calls to declare a climate emergency, yet unprecedented fires have forced a state of emergency declaration in NSW this week. Military is on standby, lives and homes are being lost and more than 600 schools were closed. The link between the severity of the fires and climate change is well established.
We hear debate that this is not the "right time" to discuss the relationship of climate change to these catastrophic fires, but if this is a preview of the world our children are to inherit, we need to take an unflinching look at the issues so we can mitigate and adapt as quickly as possible.
The action will be a family-friendly morning tea (with art activities and a singalong) from 9am in Apex Park, Moruya.

'Last word ever spoken?'
The current disaster events across Australia have brought me to realization that I, like many, have been too complacent about how much trust has been vested in our political and financial leaders, of many persuasions, at the expense of our communities and finite resources.
It is a sad indictment on the legacy that we leave for our children and future generations.
One thing that hit me between the eyes this weekend was listening to a 1960s song by Roger Whittaker - especially: "And the sun's too hot at noon... Will the golden flower wither and die... Will the fire burn out the land ... Will the last word ever spoken be why? ... Someone's lost the plan..."
Someone needs to find the plan. Especially when some $27 million of taxpayers' money, and allocation of some 100 personnel, have been spent on re-establishing a refugee centre at Christmas Island to house a family of two adults and two children.
Would not that be better employed providing a refugee centre for genuine and needy refugees from our fire devastated regions, or a mobile refugee centre for future natural disasters?
We could also get lucky and have our leaders address the cause of the dire and disastrous situations faced by so many - climate change is real and is happening now!

'Just get on with it'
Regarding 'Bega not perfect': Planners say they want to get new Eurobodalla Shire hospital 'right', (Bay Post/Moruya Examiner) November 18.
You can't rush these things! Over two years since the ACI review of critical care and perioperative services recommending improvement to these services. Over 12 months since a promise of a new hospital and immediate improvements to Accident and Emergency and Critical Care Services.
The problems with South East Regional Hospital Bega were not due to the Clinical Services Plan, but with documented lack of leadership and governance by executive and management as identified by the Reid report. History repeats when there is no leadership or governance due to the lack of continuity and effectiveness of executive management. As the French say: "Deja vu."
The community of the Eurobodalla has petitioned for delivery of a level 4 regional hospital and immediate improvements in services. Just get on with it!

Poem for Batemans Bay bridge
Not to cause trouble or to impose an impost
But the construction of the bridge is an opportunity lost
Recently on television some enthusiasts were competing
To erect buildings and bridges, a combative meeting
But now as our bridge rises from the gentle ripples of the Clyde
It is not too late for engineers to negotiate and confide
Using concrete and steel are tried and tested, it does seem
But it is boring, it is boring, boring to the extreme
With millions of Lego blocks a bridge could stand proud
Millions would flock to see it, an enthusiastic crowd
Mount Rushmore, the Pyramids, the Opera House and Uluru
Will be forgotten as tourists flock to see our bridge quite new
Fame will find the driver of the very first car to alight
Or a plaque of remembrance and a vigil that same night.
