Batemans Bay RFS has issued a warning about the dangers of arson after a "suspicious" car fire was extinguished on Sunday morning, October 20, south of Batemans Bay.

A Batemans Bay RFS spokesperson said Batemans Bay and Surf Beach crews were called at about 7.45am to reports of a car fire on Dog Trap Road, near Ridge Road.
Three Batemans Bay appliances and one Surf Beach appliance arrived "to find a vehicle totally involved in fire".
"Crews got to work extinguishing the fire bringing in under control very quickly," the spokesperson said.
The RFS spokesperson said the fire was suspicious and "incredibly dangerous".
"The cause of this fire is suspicious and we'd like to remind everyone that arson is a severe offence and attracts heavy penalties," the spokesperson said.
"Not only is it illegal, it is also incredibly dangerous to set a vehicle on fire in such close vicinity to dry bush land.
"South Coast Police District were in attendance and are investigating this incident further."
