Nine fire trucks and 26 volunteers rushed to yesterday's blaze at about 1pm.
Rural Fire Service spokesman Marty Webster believed the fire was suspicious.
"The fire started at the sand dunes to the south of McNee Street," Mr Webster said.
"It spread south, parallel to the beach."
There were initial concerns of smoke impacting the Moruya Airport, south of the blaze, but Mr Webster said it became no issue.
No properties were under threat. Approximately eight hectares of coastal vegetation was burnt.
Mr Webster said volunteers had the fire "wrapped up" by 5pm. Volunteers of Broulee RFS will continue to monitor the fire today, October 21.
"Crews patrolled overnight and they will continue to patrol today," Mr Webster said.
"It's likely there will be some smoke and fire coming up in that area; please only call Triple-Zero (000) if you see a new fire."
Police investigations are continuing.
"We are unable to determine if it's suspicious at this time; we are waiting for the area to be examined by forensic services and subsequent results," a police spokesman said.
Police are seeking witnesses. Anyone with information is urged to contact Moruya Police Station on 44 742 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Mr Webster thanked volunteer firefighters for their "rapid response during the dry conditions".
Moruya, Broulee, Mogo and Batemans Bay RFS crews attended.
