Today we had a visit from Terry Muller who travelled from Bega to join us for a game. Thirty-six bowlers enjoyed the pleasant conditions and had a great day on the green. The winners were Buddy Connor, Ted Oliver, and Owen Roe with a healthy plus 26.
The runners-up were Robert Richardson, Terry Muller, and Geoff Millard with a plus 21. Ken Nunan struggled to get his eye in and he claimed to have the biggest hiding of the day.
The jackpot draw went to Dave McCraw the winning skip on rink 3. Dave only managed to draw the four of hearts so the $510 jackpot carries over to next week.
Club Championships: Mixed Pairs.
The weather was reasonably kind to us and the greens were slick for the mixed pairs last weekend with semi-finals held on Saturday, and the final on Sunday. Spectators were treated to some great bowls when Jeanette Pooley and Jim Dalgleish challenged Milka Starkovski and Ken Nunan for the title on Sunday. Milka and Ken combined well to win the game and take out the 2019 title.
Social Pairs: Monday, September 16.
It was good to see a cool change come through bringing some much needed rain.
Unfortunately today's game was called off after 14 ends. The winners were Steve Baric and Gerry Vandermey with a margin of plus 17. The runners-up were Mike Hall and Ross Hardy with a plus 14.
The jackpot draw went to Gerry Vandermey the winning skip on rink 3. Gerry picked the six of hearts and the jackpot was not won. The $500 jackpot carries over to next week.
Tomakin Ladies
Another lovely day for the ladies to bowl. The lucky winners this week were Madge Elliot and Jo Harding with close runners-up of Marg Carney and Ingrid Blasius. Good bowling ladies.
The raffles rolled on with Pat Jones and Flo Young being the winners. If you would like a friendly and social game of bowls on a Tuesday feel free to ring our Secretary Di Ziebel for information.
Tomakin Twist Tops
What a great morning for bowls last Sunday nice and warm and not too much wind. Boothy welcomed all Twisties as well as our visitors from Worrigee and Moruya making 72 bowlers on the greens in games of 3 bowl triples.
Monty gave out the weekly award to Porky Bacon, who had left his drink, then when he returned couldn't find it so thought someone had knocked it off, but alas he was looking in the wrong place! Winners were the teams with most number of winning ends. Bob Starkovski, Dawn Neville (Worrigee) and Smiley McGregor. Runners-up, Ute Krook, Jeff Halls and John Wagstaff (Moruya). Next Sunday Twisties are off to Yass.
Malua Bay women
Last Tuesday was a very windy day at bowls and not easy to get them going in the right direction, so some very wayward bowls or many sitting on the bank!
Round 1 of Veterans' Club Singles commences on 17th but there was one match played early between Pat Weekes and Cecily White. It was a close result with Cecily the winner. Thanks to Robyn as Umpire and Yvonne as Marker.
Welcome back to Rae Fayle and Jan Shalders after their time away on holidays.
It was announced there will now only be two selectors with Jay as Bowls Organiser, so congratulations to Julie Lewis and Jenny Blyth on Selection who will remain in this position. Consistency Championships
Consistency matches this week were played over several days. Darrel Goodridge and Allen Chisholm played a very entertaining match where Darrel got away to a good start and he never let Allen get into the game as he took the match 108 to 62. Jeremy Seaton continued his good form to hit the ground running to lead all the way against Tony Palmer to win his match 106 to 74. John Breust took on John Downie and he led 55 to 45 after 10 ends and kept that margin going for a 100 to 90 win. Col Armstrong and Peter Jones had a fantastic match with the lead changing on several occasions and the final score with Col winning 101 to 99 showed that it was close all the way. Col backed up to play Les Waldock and Les took the lead early and although Col caught up to be 75 all after 15 ends Les regained the lead and took the match 107 to 83.
