McDonald's Australia is about to get a little bit more Hollywood for McHappy Day this year.
Actress Katie Holmes has been announced as the McHappy Day Ambassador.
McHappy Day is the largest annual fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) across Australia, and will take place on November 16.
McHappy Day aims to raise much needed funds that help keep families together when their child is seriously ill or injured.
Katie Holmes became a global star for her role as Joey Porter in the 1998 - 2003 teen drama Dawson's Creek, before staring as Rachel Dawes in Batman Begins.
Ms Holmes will travel to Australia for McHappy Day and be on hand to help fundraise on the day at a Sydney McDonald's restaurant.
"I'm proud to be named the 2019 Ambassador for McHappy Day and I'm really looking forward to being in Australia for this important event," she said.
"McHappy Day raises funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities, ultimately helping to keep families together while their sick or injured child undergoes treatment. I can only imagine how much that helps the child and reduces the impact on the family unit."
Marketing director for McDonald's Australia Jo Feeney said that they're thrilled [that] Katie Holmes was joining them as the 2019 McHappy Day Ambassador.
"We know supporting children's charities is close to Katie's heart, making her a fantastic advocate to help us generate critical funding for Ronald McDonald House Charities," she said
"We're hoping with Katie's support we can beat our record and raise more than $5 million for this important charity."
Chief executive officer Barbara Ryan said that "McHappy Day is the single biggest fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House Charities each year, and we're excited that Katie is coming on board for McHappy Day 2019"
"Donations and fundraising are vital to allowing us to be able to continue to offer the services we do, and since its inception in 1991, McHappy Day has raised more than $46 million that's gone on to have a significant impact on thousands of families from right across Australia."
To be a part of the day and show support for McHappy Day, options include:
