The win means the Seahawks have now beaten all three sides above them with just one more round of regular season play remaining.
"The most pleasing aspect of today's win was the fact that ADFA have been in great form, and they've beaten some really good teams in recent weeks," Alves said. "They're a very young, fit side, so the way we beat them was great.
"Our forward-line had a bit more structure, and we were able to get the ball in there quicker.
"Because they're so young and strong, we had to stand up to them in the contest. They're one of the sides we'll need to beat if we're to win this competition, and we feel like we match up quite well against them."
The visiting Rams had the best of the first quarter, but were unable to take advantage as they led by just three points at the first change.
The second quarter swung to the Seahawks, who kicked two goals to one to take a four-point lead into the main break.
The Seahawks dominated the third quarter, but only added one goal to their total, taking a handy 13-point lead into the final quarter.
Injuries and fatigue caught up to the Seahawks in the fourth quarter, as the Rams dominated both territory and possession.
However, some desperate defending kept the Seahawks in front, as they finished with a 3.6 (24) to 1.10 (16) win.
Coach Alves said the win put his side in a position where it didn't need to win its final game against Molonglo.
"It's looking like we'll be missing a few players, but it's not a game we have to win," he said. "It's nice to be in that position.
"It'll give us another chance to look at their structures and players, and try a few differing things to see what works for us."
Alves said if he can get the best side on the park, there was no reason his side couldn't win the premiership.
"It's a long season playing a contact sport, so we're concentrating on getting our best side on the field," he said. "Linda Byrn has come back into the team, and we've got Emily Nutt coming back next week, so we're getting some troops back.
"The girls have a lot of confidence, particularly now they've beaten ADFA. We've beaten Molonglo, we've beaten ANU, so we've managed to get wins over the sides above us.
"If we've got out best team available, we can git it a really good shake."
