The home game match for the first grade team on Saturday at the Bega Recreation Ground ended with Bega roaring out in front on 52-8, which adds another level of security to their top ranking on the season's ladder.
Speaking on Monday, Bega Roosters coach Scott Barton said the team held up strong during the game.
"It was a really good effort by the group, especially in the windy conditions we still played really good," he said.
The team was feeling good about their effort he said, especially as there were no injuries in the game.
"We're only five weeks from the finals so it's about trying to build and keep the top spot," he said.
Last week during the lead up to the match Barton said there was a "a real danger" going into the game as the Bay had strong individual players and have been able to cause upsets to teams like Moruya and Eden.
But he retained his confidence in his players when the match started, which paid off.
"I'm always confident every game because I know how hard we've worked," he said.
"We had control of the game from the word go.
"They kept trying, to their credit.
"But we kept our standard up for 80 minutes."
He said memorable performances in the match came from the likes of Scott Galeano who had a "really good game" and took out the man of the match for the team, as well as Scott Fuller who kept the control in the middle and Tom McMillan.
"All-in-all every player did their job, so there wasn't a bad player," Barton said.
He said the highlight from the match was the team members playing well with each other, but there were also four 17-year-old players on the field which was "always exciting".
"They have a lot of energy and they do really well," he said.
"Having to play with them - it just makes you feel old!"
Barton said the Roosters have a three-game lead on the ladder for the season, but it was still no time to become complacent.
"It's about about focusing on our own goals and taking them one at a time," he said.
Now they have to prepare for the match against Bombala this coming weekend, who Barton said have been in really good form.
"It's going to be a hard game," he said.
"The weather will be tough, as I heard it was pretty cold up there on the weekend.
"We'll just prepare as much as we can, go up there and be ready for some football."
On Sunday, July 21, the Roosters play the Bombala Blue Heelers at the Bombala Showground from 2.30pm.
