Results for July 10: The prospect of a particularly cool start to play saw a number of regular golfers elect to stay under the covers this morning, resulting in a smaller than usual field of 53 players for today's Stableford event. Perhaps it was the cool temperature but scores were well down on average, with the winner, Neal Watson, beating home the field on 20 points. Runner-up was Mike Birks on 19 from Ian Wratten and Rick Brake on 18. Balls or chocolates were won by Jennifer Gray, Stephen Crossling, Annette Manton, Noel Fletcher and Jeanette Miller on 17 points, Geoff Bellingham, Greg Bush, Peter McRae and Sandra Hanlon on 16, and finally Shirley Quinlan on 15 points after a 10 way count back was required.
Two players were obviously troubled by the early morning temperature and struggled to score, with Herb Muriwai edging out Solveig Olsson for the Bradman award on count back. Nearest the pins went to Bruce Martin on the 4th, Ian Manton on the 6th, and Annette Manton and Kevin Dukes on the 7th. Leonie Snodgrass hit an outstanding drive well down the 5th to take out the Accuracy award this week.

SATURDAY 6th JULY
Only 112 players braved the threatening weather conditions for the July Monthly Medal and the first qualifying round of the Captain's Trophy . The recent rain , although not much, restricted run on the course and this fact was clearly reflected by the DSR of 72/74 and only four players bettered their handicaps. All place-getters in A Grade fell into this category where Jason Andrew won the Monthly Medal with 70 net off his handicap of 4, followed by Matt Corbett who edged out Robert Ackling on 71 net on countback. Colin O'Sullivan took out B Grade with 71 net off his handicap of 15, while three players tied on 74 to fight out the minor placings. The countback favoured Dennis Fry over Neil Robertson with Hal Fraser missing out. Margaret Brown prevailed in C Grade with 73 net off her handicap of 32, one better than Bob Steel who had his second runner-up placing for the week. Allan Chisholm took third place with 75 net on countback from John Hasler and Mark Bartrop.
The nearest-the-pin winners were Chris Eardley on 3, Ben Sealey on 9, Michael Turner on 14 and Glenn McInerney on 17, while the ball competition went down to all on 78 net.
