Double or nothing
It always concerns me when I see a sign "Disabled Toilet" in an amenities block.

Recently I have observed signs "Accessible Toilets". Great!
There are few things more useless than a disabled or inaccessible toilet.
The other day a friend was bemoaning the fact that children often have a problem attracting their parents' attention away from their mobile phones. A notice on the door to the public toilet in the local Centrelink building solves both problems: "Accessible Parents Room".

'Bring back live broadcasts'
Climate action group 350 Eurobodalla has addressed the council in Public Forum several times.
We have always been appropriate and we object to ending the live broadcasts. Our submissions, councillors' questions and our responses are part of the public debate about council decisions.
Mayor Liz Innes said that "small groups" had abused the session to "harass, bully, make defamatory comments and continuously promote misinformation." Cr Maureen Nathan said that council did not need to provide a platform for "other people".
This is an over-reaction to criticism and differences of opinion. Public Forum has been lively at times, but we only know of one instance where the present mayor has asked anyone to leave the room.
These "small groups" and "other people" are members of the public who want their voices heard by councillors and the community.
Councillors should lighten up and not censor the public.

Branch says thanks
On behalf of all members of Moruya RSL Sub Branch, I thank you for your support in enhancing the Moruya ANZAC Day commemorative services and thereby ensuring a memorable experience for all in attendance.
This year saw an excellent turnout by the community, whose members were respectfully supportive in honouring those veterans who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
The feedback we have received verbally and through our Facebook page has been very positive about the events of the day, particularly in regards to our approach towards inclusivity and acknowledgement. Please know your contribution has been greatly appreciated by all.
Lest we forget.

Pelican too shy
I agree with Carol Holland on her comments regarding the placement of the pelican sculpture (Bay Post/Moruya Examiner, March 15). Why put the beautiful sculpture on such a dead-end walkway? No-one I know has even seen it. It's too beautiful to be hidden away where no-one can see it.

Thoughts on defeat
Despite the Coalition having two of the best candidates they are ever likely to have at a federal election, they could still not prevent the loss of the seat of Gilmore to Labor.
This is despite the fact that the Liberals held the seat previously and the Coalition won the overall election with an increased vote, against all expectations. Surely the local branches and especially the executives of those branches need to take a good look at their organisation and how they are run. New blood at the top, a membership drive, new thinking and some enthusiasm would seem to be a good start.
