RMS director of operations, Anna Andrews, said lengthy delays could be avoided with the new tool, which would help motorists plan ahead and choose the best times to travel.
"It's time to prepare for the June long weekend on the South Coast as holidaymakers head off to make the most of their mid-year break," she said.
"Saturday is expected to be busiest on our highways, and also the Monday when motorists are returning home.
"Using data collected over previous years, the tool compares average weekend traffic volumes with predicted increases throughout the long weekend.
"We are trialing this tool to help road users prepare for the peaks and troughs on known travel hotspots around NSW."
The tool will show travelers expected traffic volumes on our highways from Thursday, June 6, to Tuesday, June 11.
An RMS spokesperson said about 100 more vehicles are expected per hour on the Princes Highway in Batemans Bay over the long weekend.
The prediction tool is available at https://myjourneynsw.info. RMS thanks motorists for their patience during the long weekend.
