There have been some nice fish landed from landed from the break wall right up to Yarragee this week, and the best spots have been the deeper holes and edges.
When the weather is good (clear skies, sunny, no wind), you need to use super-light lines and fluorocarbon leaders in the deeper waters for good results. The fish tend to become skittish under these conditions, so be mindful how you approach your fishing grounds and down-size all your gear.
The guys who took this approach managed some nice flathead and bream around the hospital, and some very nice bream at the mouth of the river.
There are still tailor and salmon holding on the flats around Garland Town - generally early mornings or late afternoons are the best times to get these fish.
Tuross
Tuross is similar to Moruya this week, with crystal-clear water and dropping temperatures slowing the fishing in some areas.
Reports have come in that the water towards the back-end of the system was much better, and a number of whiting and bream are being caught up towards the four ways.
Beaches
This week has been pretty average on the beaches, but salmon and tailor are still on the chew. However, the average size of these fish haven't been as good as previous weeks.
Big bream are back on the beaches, so a worm bait or a pipi should be good enough to get onto the big yellowfins.
Schools of mullet are still hanging around, so you'd expect there are still bronze whalers around as well, although there haven't been many reports of hooked sharks in recent times.
Jewfish have been quiet this week.
Reef Fishing
The reefs have been okay this week, with snapper, morwong, and flathead filling up most boxes.
The snapper have been caught on soft plastics in water between seven-and nine-metres deep around Tuross and Pedro Point. The bait fishers are catching plenty in the waters from 40-60 metres.
Most of the sand grounds are producing healthy bags of flathead, with Wind Sock and Ciola Beaches the most productive grounds.
Kingfish have gone off the bite in recent times, but a few spear fishers have reported seeing a few around.
There was a report of a mass school of luderick hanging around off South Head this week, with most of the fish weighing more than two kilograms. If you're into chasing luderick, this may be the best week for it.
