Unconvinced

He says his government is a "responsible economic manager." Economist Stephen Koukoulis reports that after six years of the Abbott/Turnbull/Morrison government:
- Government debt has almost doubled
- Record low wages growth
- More people in low paid insecure work than in full time work
- unemploymet/underemployment
- People are working in more than one job and living in poverty
McKell Institute research found penalty rate cuts have hastened the mass casualisation of the workforce, the growth of insecure work and no new jobs. Household living standards have fallen 1.7 percent.
Gilmore has been a Liberal held seat for over 22 years. Eurobodalla unemployment is 10.01 compared to the regional NSW unemployment rate of 4.9 percent. Batemans Bay has an unemployment rate of 13 percent. Mr Morrison how will Gilmore voters have "more opportunities and better living standards"?
A Liberal National government prioritises a $77 billion corporate tax cut but ignores human pollution, effective emissions reduction and a transition from coal to renewable energy.
The Nationals have no emissions reduction or renewable energy targets. Insurance, wine and agriculture industries are experiencing the costs of severe weather and need government certainty. Doctors for the Environment say climate change "threatens the health and wellbeing of present and future generations. We need a "whole of government and civil society" approach to deep greenhouse emission cuts."
Mr Morrison how will your corporate tax cut and neglect of climate change ensure "a stronger economy"?

Off-season lament
Last week was a sad one for aquafitters as they farewelled their classes at the Batemans Bay pool for six months.
All agreed it had been a great season, with mostly good weather (and sometimes fun in the rain!)
Thanks to Geoff and staff for keeping the pool sparkling clean and warm, and the surroundings well maintained. Geoff's "thought for the day" and "word of the day" have been thought provoking, educational and fun.
Thanks to Kim for her well-constructed fitness sessions, with appropriate music and lots of variety and fun! Numbers have dramatically increased this season, necessitating more classes, and Kim has gone to a lot of trouble to cater for all fitness levels at times to suit everyone.
Meanwhile, we will have to find other ways to maintain our fitness until the pool re-opens in October, when we sincerely hope both Kim and Geoff will be back. Roll on the Indoor Aquatic and Arts Centre!

Found: One black pearl
The Animal Welfare League, Eurobodalla Branch, was so happy to be able to have a stall at the Oyster Festival.
What an amazingly well organised and fantastic event it was - so many happy people and Narooma just sparkled.
We were surprised as we were setting up our stall, to be presented with a six-week old kitten in a shoe box that had just been found in North Narooma.
Within a couple of hours Oyster (as she has been named) was going home with our Cat Welfare Officer for some rest and food. She will soon be ready for adoption.
Many thanks to our residents and the visitors for their generosity and support. Our raffle prize of a hamper, knife set and chocolates was won by a local gentleman.
