Fifty-eight runners and walkers arrived to perfect weather conditions on Saturday and watched a wonderful run by Matt Johnsen who came very close to the course record. Matt is a regular at parkrun - both on the field and in the volunteering role. Matt is also a professional running coach in our area and has many classes that cater for all levels of fitness.

We had eight first timers join us this week and once again our runners and walkers were a mix of ages. The benefits of health and fitness that parkrun offers each week for all age groups are enormous. It is also a great opportunity to meet and socialise whilst enjoying exercise at the same time.
Another highlight on Saturday was welcoming Mark Moore into the 50 Club. Mark has completed 48 parkruns on our course and 2 elsewhere. Mark has been coming to parkrun since the beginning in May 2016 and has volunteered eight times as well. Mark and his wife Julie have been in training for the Kokoda Trail, which they will undertake in mid April. We look forward to hearing how challenging the trail is.
Doug Denning led the Capital Coast Steel team to volunteer all positions for last Saturday's parkrun and once again it was smooth sailing for them all as well as a lot of fun. Many thanks to Lyn Benn, Tracy Denning, Christine Ralston, Mark Ryan, Harrison Schuh, Danny Williams, Kerrie Windus and Kim Young. And of course the Meet and Greet volunteer - Rocket!
With the school holidays about to begin we are expecting our numbers to swell for the next three Saturdays. We are constantly on the lookout for volunteers each Saturday. We need a minimum of six and seven is perfect! One of our Run Directors will always be there to help the volunteers through the process. If any groups, clubs or businesses would like to join in please contact us.
Everyone is welcome at parkrun. Please just register at http://www.parkrun.com.au/batemansbay and print your barcode off and bring it with you to get a recorded time. Then each week you can monitor your progress over the 5km. We nearly always finish under the hour and we always have a tail walker. So no one comes last. Please join us this Saturday for some social exercise along a very beautiful course on the Clyde River, 7.50am for 8am start at Rotary Park near the marina.
