In unseasonably warm weather, the Boars and Bushpigs traded blows in a tight first half. A late try gave Batemans Bay a 5-0 lead at the main break.
That lead wouldn't last long though, as a poor defensive display in the second half dropped the Boars to a 1-1 record for the season.
Boars coach Matt Ryan was forced to referee the match after the scheduled ref pulled out at the eleventh hour.
"As the only qualified person there, it fell on my shoulders," Ryan said. "I'd like to think it wasn't a factor in the game, but it wasn't ideal from anyone's perspective.
"I'm pretty happy I go back to being a coach on Tuesday again."
Ryan said it was disappointing to drop a home game, particularly after a solid road win over Crookwell last weekend.
"We knew Jindabyne would travel well and give us a contest, but it's disappointing that we couldn't continue our momentum," he said. "It's still early, and there are a lot of positive signs, but a few old habits crept back in that we need to stamp out."
Ryan said defence would get a working over at training during the week.
"Four tries conceded in the second half isn't acceptable," he said. "We lost our cool in the second half, and once that happened, the boys defaulted back to how they've reacted to offensive pressure in the past.
"They started bouncing off tackles, but they weren't making the second effort to get back in to the play. That's probably the main thing that stood out to me."
The Boars only scored two tries in the loss, but Ryan said he expects points to start coming in bunches.
"The last pass let us down," he said. "We created lots of opportunities, and we made a lot of breaks, but there was never enough support to finish the play.
"When there was support, we'd make a poor pass or a poor decision. If we can polish those opportunities off, we'll be fine."
