Councillor Innes has also called on the Federal Government and the Labor federal Opposition to commit to 80-20 funding for the highway.
"I am absolutely delighted that once again the Liberal State Government has shown its commitment and its willingness to help deliver good outcomes around the safety issues we all know are paramount to this area," Cr Innes said.
"I am calling on the state Labor Opposition to make the same commitment. I challenge the Opposition and I also challenge both the Federal Government and the federal Opposition to step up and announce they are going to fund the scheme of 80-20 funding."
The federal and state governments collaborated on a 80-20 funding agreement to upgrade the Pacific Highway, and campaigners have been lobbying for the same deal to be struck for the Princes Highway.
Asked about the crash that occurred on the Princes Highway near the Brou turnoff just 30 minutes after the funding announcement, Cr Innes said the situation was "diabolical".
The funding promise made on March 6 was for the stretch from Nowra to Moruya, but the road south of Moruya to Narooma has been the scene of several serious crashes in recent months, including head-on collisions.
"We just have to make sure we fix it," she said.
"This state government has absolutely shown their commitment to improving road safety in this area and I am throwing out the challenge to everyone else to step up and find solutions."
