Tuross Head Country Club
Tuross Head Country Club men’s monthly Scoty stableford competition was held this week and following recent rainfall the event was held on a course that was presented in excellent condition.
Darrell Kildey emerged as the winner with an excellent score of 41 stableford points.
He was followed by Lance Shadbolt with 38 points and Michael Hogan who also scored 38 points, accepting third placing on a countback.
Ian Manton and Peter Hogan were awarded the remaining award vouchers with both players handing in cards of 37 stableford points.
Nearest the pins were won by:
A grade golfer Colin Houghton on the 4th hole with 92 centimetres.
Ian Lawson was closest on the 6th with 2.94m and Ian was also the winner on the 7th hole with 4.67m.
B grade best was Darrell Kidney with 8.8m on the 4th hole.
Andrew Gordon won the 6th with 2.7m and Peter Nikolic the 7th with 9.02m.
Peter Mostyn was the closest on the 4th hole in C grade with 8.9m.
Michael Hogan was awarded the 6th with 2.19m and John Eglitis won the 7th with 5.3m.
Thursday’s medley 18 hole stableford competition was won by Rex Wood with 39 points.
Colin Houghton was placed second on a countback.
Jim Wade scored a handy 37 stableford points.
Glen Shearer handed in a 36 point card.
Nearest the pins were awarded to Peter Garn and Brad Doolan.
Tuross Head Veterans
With the dust storm and light overnight rain having cleared, 57 players registered for the popular Stroke & Putts event. Outright winner on the day was Greg Thornton with an 8 under par score of 27 strokes. Greg was followed home by Vets captain Ian Miller on 29, Chris Wratten on 31 and Denis Benger on 32.
Balls or chocolates went to Teri Swanbury, Paul Pereira and Ken Brown on 33 (Ken having parred the course off the stick), Richard Wharton, Peter Macdonald and Des Jackson on 34, followed home by Ross Davidson, Graham Moore, Herb Muriwai, Jeanette Miller, Barry Hoban, John Cox, Les Johanson, Wal Williams and Richard Kelly all with 35. Ken Brown narrowly won the putting competition with 10 putts from the 9 holes played.
This week's Bradman award was won by one of our newer members, Shirley Quinlan, the handicapper needing to lift his game! Nearest the pins were won by Steve Johnston on the 4th, Paul Pereira on the 6th, and Teri Swanbury and Paul Pereira on the 7th. Making it a double, Teri Swanbury also took out the Accuracy award.
Moruya Ladies
Thirty ladies played a 2 Ball Better Ball on February 13th in beautiful weather on perfectly manicured Moruya Golf Course.
Congratulations go to Barbara Swain and Viv Thornett who took out first place with a score of 45 points. They were closely followed by Shirley Noy and Annette O'Connell with 43 points. Third place went to Robyn Hawkins and Chris Edwards with 42 points.
Division 1 Nearest the Pin was won by Jan Young and Division 2 went to Judy Hebbard. Samantha Dryden won the longest drive for Division 3.
Catalina Ladies
Results for Wednesday, February 13.
76 ladies played in a Progressive Irish 4 Ball, 4 Person Team.
First: Diane Gill, Beryl Robinson, Louise Fogarty and Helen Neave with 82 points.
Second: Bev Flynn, Roz Odgers, Eileen Davis and Oroya Mitchell with 77 points.
Third: Kellie Rogan, Debbie Rogan, Helen Martin and Bonnie Hardy with 77 points.
Fourth: Cathie Flynn, Kathy Roe, Colleen Day and Julie Manson with 77 points.
Nearest the pin:
Division 1: Margaret Dickinson.
Division 2: Beryl Robinson.
Division 3: Jo Neal.
The ball competition went to 70 points.
Tuross Head Ladies
What a beautiful day for golf, and that's just what the 16 ladies at Tuross did on Tuesday when they played in a 2 bbb aggregate stableford event. The winners were Leonie Snodgrass & Kay Lunt with a combined score of 61 points.
Balls went to Dorothy Madden, Marie Mapleson, Gail Rogers, Lyn Benger & Pauline Nash. Nearest the pin on the 6th was won by Gail Rogers. The Golden hole in division one went to Kay Lunt and in division two it was Dorothy Madden. Next week the ladies will play in a single stableford.
