The BMX Club completed concreting work on the final berm of the track on Saturday, February 2.
The track now has three concreted berms, which will allow the track to survive longer in harsh weather conditions.
Chris Moran, Daniel Dowley, Billy Hines, Nathan Fletcher, Todd Sharples, and Henry Puth all gave up their Saturday to complete the job, and had help from some of the kids at the club.
Club spokeswoman Sheridan Batistic said work would commence on the straights in the next couple of months.
“We’re going to do the last two straights, because we need to make those sections a bit slower,” she said. “The kids come out of the concrete berms a lot quicker, so we’re going to change the jumps to make it flow a bit better, and make sure they’re not crashing.
“We’re hoping to have that done in the next three months, because we want to get the kids on there as soon as possible.”
Batemans Bay will not be hosting an Open this year, but the upgraded berms will unlock bigger meets in the future.
“Next year we’ll be getting a State Series round, and we’re hoping for State Titles in the next couple of years,” Ms Batistic said.
“It’s a dream of ours that this has been completed. We started at the site about four years ago, and it was a bit of a goat track back then. Now it’s at a State Titles level.”
