It was created to show politicians why they must plan and fund a modern highway – now.
South Coast mastheads started campaigning for an 80-20 funding agreement between the state and federal government in March 2018.
In December, Bay Post editor Kerrie O’Connor and South Coast Register editor John Hanscombe secured a bi-partisan statement of support for a safer highway from Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack and Shadow Infrastructure spokesman Anthony Albanese. Later that month, Mr McCormack toured sections of the highway.
Bega MP Andrew Constance was the first MP to publicly support a divided dual-carriageway all the way to the border.
In February, Ms O’Connor invited all state and federal candidates to see the map.
