All players and prospective players are asked to attend this session where they can meet the committee and coaching staff.
Three-time premiership-winning coach Neil Williams is back in charge, and is keen to start working with the 2019 line-up.
While a premiership is the ultimate goal, Neil is realistic and acknowledges that there is a lot of hard work and commitment required before the club can have another crack at the Group 16 crown.
The Sharks are in a rebuilding phase, losing some class players from 2018 through injury and work commitments, while picking up some exciting new players for the 2019 season.
With 10 first grade sides nominating for the Group 16 competition, the upcoming season will be one of the longest and most competitive in recent memory, and the Sharks are looking to player depth to make it to the finals in a strong position.
Williams is excited about the year ahead, stating that he “relishes the prospect of working with the young Sharks while welcoming back some old faces and introducing some new faces to our ranks”.
Playing numbers are looking good at this early stage, and the sharks always manage to put strong sides on the paddock in both first and reserve grade.
“I believe a strong reserve grade, is essential for a successful club, and provides the platform for first grade, as well as a pathway for our juniors,” club president Ian Traynor said.
The Sharks have appointed joint reserve-grade coaches Mervyn Brierley and Michael Cottington, who will combine their significant talent and knowledge to provide leadership and direction for the reggies.
With 18 rounds of competition the reserves will be called on constantly to augment the firsts, so good numbers are crucial.
Greg Sinclair has been appointed as under 18s coach for 2019, and is keen to impart his knowledge and experience to the lads.
The Sharks could not rally enough players to compete in 2018, so Greg is keen to hear from anyone wishing to wear the Sharks colours in 2019.
He is confident of getting a competitive team with some exciting young talent moving up from the under 16s.
The Ladies League Tag coaching position has been filled by Tim Weyman with assistance from Jacob Hope-Hodgetts. The Ladies are all keen to get back on the paddock after a break in 2018.
The Sharkettes will provide the Moruya club with a much needed boost, providing the extra excitement, buzz, and feel that female participation brings.
The club encourages all players, junior, senior and girls to attend the first training session of the year.
“Any new players are most welcome, and we encourage them to come along and become part of our great club,” Traynor said. “It will be a good opportunity to meet and greet new players as well as coaching staff and officials.
“We are expecting a great 2019, and the feel and enthusiasm around the club as good as ever.”
