The combination of good weather and New Year fitness plans attracted a record number of 122 starters to the first run of the year. This broke the previous record of 115 set back on May 16 of last year.

The impressive part of the run was the number of visitors, with 29 testing themselves over the three distances. The visitors came from various parts of the country including the Cayman Islands.
It was a family affair with six Aungles, five Ceceres, five Carters, and five Scahills.
In the two-kilometre run, Hamish Whitear, Louis Hayward, Samson Kennedy, Jonno Harrington, Aislinn Schahill, Gab Smith, Ellie Van Weerdenburg, Joanne Scahill, Karen Edwards, Peter Johnsen and Robyn Domeny all recorded personal-best times.
In the 3.5-kilometre run, Angus Murphy, Bryon Grant, Liza Martini and Claire Blair all improved on their best times.
Andrew Oberg, Tess Aungles, Jane Aungles, Nathan Urban, Pip Harrington, and Katrina Leach all recorded personal bests in the five-kilometre run.
