The win is the biggest of his young career, as the fight card was televised nationally on Fox Sports.
Donnelly, who now has a 2-0 record in professional fights, won the fight in the third round via technical knock out (TKO).
Im very pumped, he told the Bay Post/Moruya Examiner after the fight.
The first week after you win a fight, theres nothing like it.
He said he didnt know the fight would be on Fox until shortly before.
I arrived in Melbourne Friday morning with my coach, he said.
I made weight and we squared off.
We went to the venue about 5pm thats when they made it official it would be on Fox.
It was nerve wracking, but definitely motivating.
Before and after the bout, Donnelly had nothing but respect for his opponent.
The day before, at the weigh in, Sean was really nice - we had a good start before we even touched gloves, Donnelly said.
I made sure not to overcommit and be patient. When he started getting hurt, I started coming in. He was really tough.
Donnelly said he appreciated the support he received from his coaches, father and girlfriend, Hope.
My corner was steering me in the right direction, he said.
I was a bit worried for a second, but when I stood up for the third I felt really good.
He was looking for the takedown the whole time, and finally landed it at the beginning of the third round - he came out really strong.
Alarm bells went off for me, but I was lucky enough to get back up and he was definitely on the back foot after that.
I landed a couple then got in close - if theyre not intelligently defending themselves then the ref will step in.
I kept punching, and the ref stepped in and lifted my hand.
His opponent now has a 3-3 record after the loss at the Melbourne Pavillion in Kensington, Victoria.
