Owner Murray Sowter and his team claimed champion with Murribrook Goldwyn Verbena, led by Simon Tognola, reserve champion with Declan Patten’s Murribrook Doorman Candace shown by Brad Gavenlock and honourable mention with the Wilson Family’s Murribrook Fever Violet paraded by Craig Cochrane.

Mr Sowter was delighted to claim the trifecta in the champion field and collect the overall senior champion for the third year in a row.

“To get the trifecta was very pleasing,” he said.

“The champion won here two years ago. The reserve also won here two years ago, we sold her privately but still manager her. The honorable mention cow we sold in our sale last year to the Wilson family, of Jamberoo and she’s a 75 per cent blood sister to the champion cow.

“It’s the third year in a row we’ve won champion and to get the trifecta today is very pleasing.”

To complete a big day the stud also took out intermediate champion with Murribrook Brokaw Rae.

Glen Gordon, of Gorbro Holsteins, Cohuna, Victoria was judge and congratulated the exhibitors on a quality show.

“We are facing some tough challenges in the dairy industry at the moment and for the exhibitors to turn out the quality of cattle they have today has been exceptional,” he said.

“It has been great to judge here. I have been looking forward to judging here for a long time and I haven't been disappointed.

“There wasn’t one cow here on the showground today that didn't deserve to be here.”

The Graham Simpson Memorial for the All Australian Calf born after August 2017 with a handler under 17 was won by Lilly Bawden, of Warragul, Victoria, leading Strongbark MS Solomon Bonnie, with the presentation made by Mr Simpson's daughter Renee Edenden.

Junior champion of the Youth Show was CP and SJ Walsh’s Waljasper Alice In Wonderland shown by Charlie Lloyd.

Junior champion Red Holstein was Brad and Jess Gavelock’s Sunvale Jodie.

Gavenlock also led Mario Park Solomon Midas to overall junior champion for MD and JE Polson.

Intermediate champion was won by Murribrook Holsteins with Murribrook Brokaw Rae, while the intermediate Red champion was won by Michael Rood’s Whitegold Absolute Satin, exhibited by Craig Cochrane.

Charles Lucas, of Tilba, took out the senior champion Red Holstein with Paradee Contender Perfection.

Hosted by the South Coast and Tablelands Holstein Sub Branch at the Nowra Showground the spring fair attracted more than 100 entries.

Sub branch president Paul Condon was delighted with the show, saying even the few showers of rain that exhibitors encountered couldn’t dampen the event.

“The rain just topped off a great day,” he said.

“We had good entries which was great considering what challenges the industry is facing at the moment.

“We had good crowd support which was also great.”
