The Hospital Auxiliary reached out to the club for help - and they got to work.
Lions president Jacki Harding said a charity golf day raised enough for one-and-a-half trolleys, and she hoped the Lions Grant Foundation would bring enough for two.
“We just get out there and make money to give it away,” she said.
The new trolleys mean patients won't have to walk back to their ward after surgery. Nursing manager Marie Loudon was delighted.
“This trolley has a special head piece, which means a patient can be taken down to theatre and not have to get on to the operating table; we can do (surgery) on the trolley,” she said.
“Without the help of the auxiliary and the Lions Club and institutions like that there is no way we would be able to run the service. We just can’t thank them enough.”
