Cr Nathan was diagnosed in February, and has just passed the half-way mark in her chemotherapy treatment.
She said in May that, despite challenges, she intended to continue with her usual commitments, including her position on council.
“Week one (of chemo) knocks me around; nausea, vomiting, tiredness. I can cope with just about anything for an hour before I need a nanna nap,” she said.
“I’m taking each hour as it happens. The oncologist and surgeon said I should not give up my activities; (I’m) doing what I used to do in smaller bites.”
The council has supported her innovative approach to taking “smaller bites” – a fold out bed in the mayors office.
Cr Nathan said being able to take her “nanna naps” while remaining at the council chambers made a real difference to her day.
