Under 7s and under 8s kicked things off. Both teams played two games each, as the number of players in these age groups continue to soar.
The 7s continue to improve each week under the coaching of coach Colebrook, and keep gaining confidence whenever they’re on the paddock. Coach’s awards this week went to Axel Smith and Tiarnah Nye.
Coach Irving’s under 8s would have slept well Saturday night, playing hard in two games Their attack is outstanding, but they should be most proud of their defence. Coach’s awards went to Kai Woodford and Yuin Mongta.
The under 9s continue to be a team to watch out for in the future, playing a brand of footy well beyond their years. Coach’s award went to Chad Brunhuber.
The girls league tag players truly are a special team, as they continue to dominate. With jinking runs, and sheer pace, these girls are great to watch when they're on the field. They ran out 20-8 winners, with the coach’s award going to Mia Parra.
Under 10s took to the field in front of a good local crowd, and took it to the Roosters from the opening whistle. With some slick work with the ball and some desperate defence, the Sharks kept in the game for the full 40 minutes. The final score was 24-20 to Bega, with Roy Edwards winning the coach’s award.
The Under 12s slogged it out with only a handful of their normal line up, against a determined Roosters pack. Despite the final score of 26-0 to Bega, the boys never stopped trying. Coach’s award went to Jye Jonas.
The under 14s were on next with minimal numbers, and once again showed determination. The boys should be proud of how they kept turning up for one another. The final score was 46-12 to Bega, with Dylan Williams winning the Coach’s Award.
The under 16s were up last, with a few under 14s putting up their hands to help out the older boys. With clever ball work, and some hard running, the Sharks won the game 32-26.
Jack Grant won the Coach’s Award.
The club would like to extend a big thank you to all of its volunteers.
