Gallen will join the squad for the state championships this weekend, where they will verse teams from Illawarra and Sydney, as well as other regions from around the state.
“We had trials every Sunday for about six weeks, and then they picked a team of 30 from there,” Gallen said. “Then there was training, assessments, and more trials.
“We had a trial match in Cowra, then they chose the team of 23 from there.”
Gallen plays fly-half for the Boars under 12s, but has been selected on the wing for the Brumbies’ rep squad.
He said he was “happy, and pretty excited” about his selection, and was already fitting in well with the other boys chosen.
“I know them pretty well from other sports,” he said.
Junior Boars president Ronnie Collier said Gallen had done a fantastic job to be selected.
“There are 16 teams in his age division,” he said. “He made it into the squad of 36, and then survived all the cuts, so he’s done a good job.”
Fortunately for the Boars, Gallen won’t miss any games for his home club.
“We have the one carnival, and it’s on the long weekend, so it’s not going to clash with any Boars games,” Gallen said.
