The Dusky Dophins Mini Rugby and Dophins Access Rugby are 10 week programs running at Captains Oldrey Park, Broulee for Term 2.
Dusky Dolphins Mini Rugby is a skill and game based program to introduce 4-9 year olds to rugby union..
The program is focused on developing essential motor skills for rugby union and sporting participation in a fun and friendly environment.
Children aged 4-7 years play a touch version of rugby union and develop important skills such as running, passing, catching and kicking.
Children aged 8-9 years play Walla Rugby, which introduces the tackle element of rugby, as they continue to develop their running, passing, catching and kicking skills.
The programs are run by fully accredited coaches and referees.
Dolphins Access Rugby is a first for the South Coast. In a quest to make the game of rugby accessible to all, the Broulee Dolphins have introduced a modified rugby program for junior players with a disability or additional needs.
Access Rugby caters to players from 9 to 18 years who would not usually be able to play the game of rugby. The program is safe and non-contact.
Each session will be comprised of both skills sessions and games so that players can learn and experience the game of rugby. Players will be provided with a mentor to assist them throughout each of the sessions.
The Broulee Dolphins are very proud to be able to open the game of rugby to all.
Meanwhile, the Broulee Dolphins received a $3000 grant from the NSW Office of Sport.
The 2016/17 Local Sport Grant was supported by Andrew Constance to keep the cost of the programs to a minimum for participants and help purchase uniforms and equipment.
The cost of the two 10 week programs is $40. Sessions run from 5.30pm to 6.30pm, at Captain Oldrey Park, Broulee
