Playing at home, the Boars challenged hard at the start, before losing their way on either side of half time to fall behind their opponents.
A strong finish ensured they were not disgraced on the score line, ending with three tries for the match.
Boars’ coach, Matt Ryan, said his side definitely showed they were capable of matching it with the second-placed Tigers at certain points throughout the match.
“I thought we did a pretty good job in the early stages,” he said.
“The penalty count was against us and to have a player sin binned towards the back end of the first half definitely didn’t help.”
Down by two tries at the break, the Boars let in three quick tries early in the second half to give their opponents a healthy advantage.
A couple of late tries helped reduce the deficit, but it was too little too late.
Standouts for the side on the day were props Jim Roberts and Nathan Smith.
The Boars will travel to Harden this week to take on the Red Devils, with Ryan in no doubt about what his side needs to achieve.
“We need to win, and win well,” he said.
“At this stage of the season, we need more than just improvement. The players know what they are capable of, so it is just a matter of getting the points.”
