Paramedics should not work alone
I care for my mother and early last week I had to call an ambulance late at night, as we required assistance (she was unable to breathe).

When the officer arrived, I was shocked that she was travelling on her own.
What planet is management on to send these great people out without a partner?
How long do you think it will be before we as a community have to deal with a tragedy?
Male or female, this practice must stop now.

Moruya
In search of a star
I am having a family reunion for the Burke and King families of Mogo on October 1, 2016.
I am after an old photograph of the Star Hotel, which was in Moruya about 1860.
It was run by Peter Otto Weber, my husband’s great grandfather.
Any help appreciated.

Please be fair on former bowling site
Those of us in the Batemans Bay area with an arts bent were thrilled to see news of Eurobodalla Shire Council's purchase of the former bowling club on Friday, April 29.
Such a central position and in Batemans Bay; thank you, council, for bringing to fruition what so many in our community have worked hard to achieve. We have not had a designated community arts space for 50 years.
My plea is to those involved in considering the expressions of interest: please maintain a balanced view of how this valuable space might be shared to benefit best a variety of organisations and do not be influenced by the inevitable dollar.
Ironically, some years ago, renowned social researcher and one of Australia's prolific and insightful authors, Hugh Mackay, addressed a literary lunch at the club. It was not an ideal venue then, but now we have a golden opportunity to create a welcoming space to entice not only influential and stimulating visitors, but one that can provide for artists who have yearned for an exhibition area in which to show their fine works at a time that suits them and does not have to be restricted to school holidays.
Let the concept of fairness in sharing be paramount when deciding how best to make it a broad-based, inclusive community facility that it certainly has the potential to be.

Batemans Bay
Presidents united
I am writing to clarify the article Bowling for the Arts (Bay Post/Moruya Examiner, May 18).
Whereas the Batemans Bay Performance and Exhibition Centre Working Group Inc. (PerfEx) was the only group listed and quoted, the crowd photographed in front of the former Batemans Bay Bowling Club auditorium included presidents and representatives of a further eleven arts and cultural organizations who had come together as a strong show of unity, to voice our concerns.
The organizations represented were the Batemans Bay Arts and Crafts Society, the South Coast Music Society, the South Coast Pastel Society, U3A Batemans Bay, the Old Courthouse Museum, Eurobodalla Woodworking Guild, Granite Town Festival, Larks after D’Arc of Mogo and Bay City Cinemas, as well as PerfEx.

Small jewel to be taken away?
There are two parks the council wants to re-zone in Batemans Bay.
Albert Ryan has received a lot of publicity, but there is another beautiful little park under imminent threat. That is the one beside the childcare centre, next to Calga St, Catalina, on George Bass Drive.
It is small, sheltered from the wind and the sea, has no bats, has a large green open area for kicking a ball or running around, and a playground structure. It is ideal for small children and those children who find large open spaces challenging, or parents who want their children to play away from traffic and noise. It is adjacent to green zones with an uninterrupted view to trees across George Bass.
A centre for disabled children and teens is planned for this site. A great idea, but let’s not trade a beautiful park for it.
Go and see how much will be under tar or building! There are now white markers on the ground at the park that give you a rough idea of where the planned carpark and centre are to be built. They take up almost the entire open green space and even the playground structure will be pushed out of the way. A second entrance is planned on that tight corner, which, you would know, is packed with parents dropping off children or picking them up morning and afternoon.
We will not get this park back. As a community, we should not be worse off from this deal. Save this park too. Keep our jewel for our children.
