2.30PM: A witness said a male driver lost control of his vehicle on the Princes Highway at Mogo, overturning and narrowly missing a waterway.
The witness, Laura Stempniak, said the driver lost control soon after turning right onto the highway from the Tomakin road, at about 1.45pm on Sunday, May 8.
She said the car left the highway and careered “off a cliff”, and finished upside down on the bank of a nearby creek. She said a member of the public helped the driver escape.
Ms Stempniak said the driver appeared to be unhurt.
“He was lucky,” she said.
Police and firefighters were in attendance and the northbound lane of the highway was blocked.
More details as they come to hand.
