Primi Thompson wants Melaleuca Reserve, Catalina left as it is, and does not want to see a facility for disabled children built on the land. “The problem is that we are losing park space. There are the skate parks and BMX parks but there aren’t many shady, protected parks for families and children,” she said.
Ms Thompson said she has distributed flyers to residents in the Catalina area about the rezoning of the reserve.
The Muddy Puddles group, who wishes to build a facility on the reserve, was formed to address the lack of diagnostic, therapy and educational opportunities for families rearing children with special needs. They secured NSW Government funding to develop the site.
